51 pages in.
They say you know by page fifty whether a book is worth your time.
I think that's ridiculous.
51 Pages In is a series of 'reviews' taken just past that arbitrary threshold.
It’s an attempt to resist the quick swipe logic of contemporary reading: the neat thumbs-up or thumbs-down, the efficiency mindset that asks whether something is “worth it.”
Instead, these pieces sit somewhere just as arbitrary, where characters are half-formed and already intimate, where irritation and fascination coexist, where the architecture of a book begins to show.
Each entry documents what a text is doing to a body and a mind at that precise point: the jealousy, the confusion, the flinch, the sense that you’re already implicated.
