bower books is an online secondhand bookstore based in North Fitzroy, Melbourne. I pick books up on feeling, not resell value — things that reward re-reading and carry weight beyond their ISBN. Some titles are cult, some are canonical, some are just strange enough to deserve a second life.

The shop is organised by form rather than genre: essays and hybrids, experimental and short fiction, memoirs, poetry, novels, anthologies. If you've ever found genre categories useless, this might be more your speed. Stock turns over regularly, a mix of paperback easy reads and first editions alike drop most days of the week.

We also host events, classes, and shared reading or theory sessions out of North Fitzroy — practical, slow, and conversational, focused on thinking together rather than expertise or performance.

The project sits somewhere between a bookshop, a learning space, and a small publishing experiment. Clarity over scale. Curiosity over consensus. Durability over trend.
