The second volume of The Book of the Short Sun continues Horn’s voyage across the twin worlds of Blue and Green.

What began as a search for Silk becomes something stranger. More and more identity fractures, narrative slips, and the line between traveller and host begins to blur. Green is harsher than Blue, it's wilder, more overtly alien. Jungle replaces sea, predators replace rival sects, and the old technological gods recede into something more mythic. Horn’s account grows increasingly unstable. Is he writing as witness, as vessel, as someone else entirely?

Like all late Wolfe, this is layered fiction. Surface adventure, underneath theological and metaphysical inquiry. Memory, possession, and authorship tangle. The trilogy shifts here from quest to transformation.

Not a sequel in the conventional sense — more a deepening.
