What does antifascism look like beyond the familiar images of street protests and confrontations with the far right?
Edited by journalist and researcher Shane Burley, ¡No Pasarán! gathers essays, interviews and firsthand accounts examining the changing character of fascist movements and the many forms of resistance organised against them.
The collection moves between historical reflection and contemporary political struggle, examining how far-right movements recruit, organise and adapt across different communities and cultural spaces. Contributions address transgender identity and antifascism, the infiltration of heavy metal subcultures by neo-Nazi groups, and the history of militant antiracist organising in the United States. Particularly valuable are the reflections on antifascist movements' own organisational weaknesses, internal contradictions and difficulties sustaining solidarity. Rather than treating antifascism as a unified political identity, the book presents it as a contested, evolving practice shaped by local conditions, collective action and historical experience.
