'Absalom! Absalom!' by William Faulkner

Faulkner circles the rise and collapse of Thomas Sutpen, a man who tries to will himself into Southern aristocracy and leaves a trail of violence, secrecy, and ruin behind him.
Set in Mississippi in the decades around the Civil War, the book is less about what happened than how it’s remembered, argued over, and distorted by those who come after. Faulkner—writing at the height of his powers—mutates history with sentences stretch, double back, contradict themselves, as if the story refuses to settle into a single version. A jagged book about race, inheritance and pride all closing in on each other until the whole structure buckles.
Vintage paperback edition. As new condition: appears unread, with clean, unmarked pages and a tight, square binding. Covers bright and intact with only minimal shelf wear, if any. An excellent, near-pristine copy.
