The novel tracks control, dependency, and the slow erosion of certainty—what begins as concern turns into something harder to name, with the external search folding into a more internal disorientation.

Key events are often implied rather than staged outright, familiar (but by no means lost in the crowd) in a wave of psychologically acute, minimalist fiction, but there’s enough emotional ambiguity here to keep it unsettled.
