'Diary of a Film' by Niven Govinder

Part memoir, part production notebook, part reckoning.
Govinder documents the making—and unmaking—of a debut feature under conditions of financial pressure, institutional indifference, and queer erasure. He writes with a diarist’s immediacy, but the book’s real subject is authorship itself: who gets to make work, who controls it, and what survives when the system withdraws support.
What emerges is a sharp, unsentimental account of creative labour at the margins. The book sits somewhere between film writing, personal essay, and critique, there's not much cinema as glamour and I imagine will appeal to readers interested in art-making under constraint rather than industry myth.
