'Tranny: Confessions of Punk Rock’s Most Infamous Anarchist Sellout' by Laura Jane Grace

A bitey book.
Most famous for their band Against Me!, this is a music memoir on the surface, but really it’s about identity under scrutiny. And just how fucked up that can make you. Grace doesn’t clean anything up. At all.
The book moves through addiction, touring, gender transition, self-destruction, and the strange economics of punk authenticity—who gets to be “real,” and who gets cast out once they stop performing the right version of themselves. There’s a constant friction between private experience and public narrative, which gives it more weight than most musician memoirs that just catalogue events.
2016 first edition hardback (Hachette). Signed—full-page autograph. Dust jacket clean. Very good condition.
