Anti-Globalisation is a compact polemical survey of the institutions, agreements and economic assumptions gathered under the name “globalisation.” Barrett-Lennard moves through the WTO, IMF, World Bank, OECD, foreign investment, labour, health, development and the deregulation of the Australian economy. 

The book belongs to the immediate post-Seattle, post-S11 moment, when opposition to corporate globalisation was being assembled across unions, environmentalists, anti-capitalist groups and social movements, and Barrett-Lennard’s account has subsequently been cited in writing on Australian anti-corporate activism and labour participation in S11.  It reads as a document from the point when “globalisation” still named a contested programme, rather than something we kind of came to regard as 'furniture'.
