'Blue Milonga' by Edward Caruso
Couldn't load pickup availability
Written out of Caruso’s travels through Argentina and Chile, Blue Milonga is a poetry collection organised around movement.
Caruso moves between street scenes and cultural reference points — Neruda, Che Guevara, Magritte, tango, colonial histories — all as outsider. The looking in, looking close, but never quite being inside.
The museums he walks into open onto wounded animals in the street; literary and revolutionary figures are pulled back into landscape; wandering becomes method of remaining receptive. There is a strong sense throughout of Latin America being encountered through overlapping histories rather than as an exotic elsewhere. Caruso’s second poetry collection, it was written during time spent in Chile and Argentina and published in Melbourne in 2019.
