Confined 15 documents the fifteenth annual exhibition of artworks by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists who are currently incarcerated or have recently been released from prison.

Presented by The Torch at the Glen Eira City Council Gallery in 2024, the exhibition brings together paintings, sculpture and other works exploring Country, cultural identity, family, memory and the experiences of incarceration. The accompanying catalogue reproduces the artworks in colour alongside statements from the artists, identifying their cultural connections and the stories informing their practice. These range from ancestral knowledge and Dreaming stories to reflections on separation, reconnection, personal change and returning home.

The Torch's work supports Indigenous artists through cultural and artistic development during and following incarceration. This catalogue is both a record of contemporary First Nations artistic practice and an opportunity to encounter the individual perspectives of artists whose work is often excluded from conventional exhibition spaces.
