A work of poetry entangling astronomy, cosmology and particle physics

They spindle between enormous and the intimate, using lyric to map the phenomena that radically exceed us. A Christmas card can sit beside the first moments of the universe; scientific instruments become ways of thinking about perception, longing and what remains invisible. 

Sometimes has worked alongside scientists and drawn extensively on contemporary scientific research, but uses her skill with metaphor, abstraction and measurement to explore. In “Nebula,” Simone Weil appears beside Schrödinger, astronomical interferometers and domestic space; elsewhere, graphs and diagrams meet mortality, curiosity and desire. The result is a collection concerned with both how we know the universe and what knowing anything at that scale does to the human imagination.
