'The Virago Book of Wicked Verse' edited by Jill Dawson

This is my favourite Virago book I've found thus far.
Edited by Jill Dawson and published by Virago in 1992, The Virago Book of Wicked Verse brings together poets across centuries, languages and continents whose writing is erotic, satirical, politically defiant, irreverent and frequently very funny.
Featuring Sappho, Maya Angelou, Nikki Giovanni, Dorothy Parker, Stevie Smith, Emily Dickinson, Margaret Atwood, Wisława Szymborska, Suniti Namjoshi, Izumi Shikibu and many others, the collection moves between lust, anger, friendship, domestic rebellion, bodily pleasure and the absurdities of social convention. Its sections carry titles such as The Clitoris in My Throat, Queens of the Underworld and If They Can't Take a Joke. A wonderful little piece of feminist publishing history, and a reminder that women have been writing obscenely, intelligently and against the grain for a very long time.
Virago Press, 1992. First edition paperback. Good vintage condition, with visible rubbing, creasing and edge wear to covers, light age-toning to pages. Internally appears well preserved.
